Customer Service Associate (Former Employee)

23.11.2023, Job Location: Denver, CO
Opening procedures, favorite part was performing the cash room duties, count previous days revenue, get deposits ready, replenish proper registers with $100 . BankCalculate, input register revenue into secured applications. Open doors for begining days business.

Work at register, new business, take payments, locate on-line packages, returns, or help with online requests on clients phone.

Hardest part was the high turnovers, always understaffed.

Not a lot of stock to sell your products. Barely any customers. They expect you to work on your phone for sales also.

This isn't easy and there are 3 different steps to add customers to your book plus 2 for making a style board. It's time consuming and barely any customers want to order this way.

Sales Support Associate (Current Employee)

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nordstrom truly cares about their employees. They give top notch customer care and have highly professional teams in their departments. They make you feel at home and will go to great lengths to make you successful in your job. They make you feel like family.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
At times you get so busy that it is impossible to give everyone same great service.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Like family. You are never alone and they will help you to become a better sales person.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Just go with the flow and treat every customer like the most important person in the world. Almost nothing is impossible.

Warehouse Associate (Former Employee)

Typical warehouse work that deals with clothing items. Decent pay is all that I can say. Nordstrom is a good place if you’re looking for short term solution to a job while you’re searching for other opportunities.

Do not expect to be there for long either you will quit from stress or tiredness or most likely get written up for unreasonable reasoning. Do not lose your badge that’s a write up also.

Sales Associate (Former Employee)

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people in the other department's were kinda nice. However everyone always had an energy of wanting to milk money from anyone.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Absolutely dung hours and its impossible to make tips. I worked in Men's Suiting so not as much people walking on our floor but still man. Make $6,000 within 2 weeks THEN you can start earning tips. Bi-weekly pay for minimum wage. Doesn't help that the people who work far more hours than you will steal your customers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Competitive. But not in your face. People silently taking your customers when they darn well know that they're yours.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Waiting around for a customer to walk in hour +20mins at a time just for the chance to make a sale. Considering men don't buy too much clothes for themselves most of the time you'll either get a droner or if they are looking for clothes they'll probably still say no because again, they're men. They don't ask for help.

Stock Associate (Former Employee)

TACOMA NORDSTROM DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PAYING THEIR EMPLOYEES A WAGE THAT KEEPS UP WITH THE COST OF LIVING.

Back of house, shipping and fulfillment, who do the real and actual work, top out at $17.00 an hour, and that takes about 2 years to get to. That is $1.26 over WA state minimum wage. You can be here 20 years and all you get is a certificate in a frame.

You fill out an employee survey each year and ask for a pay raise but "their hands are tied" even though they announce each morning how much the company made in profit the day before.

If you want to stand around on your phone in ridiculous outfits and get paid, this job is for you. But good luck on ever making commission.

Nordstrom is a cheap and greedy company that does not care about paying livable wages.

Overworked and underpaid.

Sales Associate (Former Employee)

Basically if you didn’t have clients that would buy only off you, you’d just make enough to get you by. Long hours and not enough pay.

Management would only get experience in my department so they can move on to other positions. Always understaffed and customers could be extremely needy and impatient just for STUFF.

Service Experience Representative (Current Employee)

My typical day at work is arriving 15 minutes early.

I feel this far I have learned about retail.

Management is very young and are all newly promoted managers.

Hardest part of the job constantly picking up after others.

Most enjoyable part of job is the wonderful guest I have the pleasure of interacting with and my fellow coworkers.

Cleaner (Former Employee)

Nordstrom was not my first job, by a long shot. But I did hire and manage employees at Nordstrom for whom it was their first job, so I will answer this as best I can.

There are two very distinct job classifications at Nordstrom - sales or support.

As a support employee - that is, one who is responsible for stocking, cleaning, or filling online orders - Nordstrom can be an excellent first job IF you are willing to work very hard, go above and beyond to accommodate any customer requests, and get on board with the Nordstrom mentality.

Assistant Manager (Former Employee)

7.11.2023, Job Location: Tysons Corner, VA
Where to start. Don't let the smile on people's face to fool you in Nordstrom. Almost all of them are just fake. This workplace is pretty hostile and toxic.

Manager has her favorites and salespeople are fighting whole day for sale, Ugly competition and it is intentionally created by department manager. They did not care because most important thing is not a sales person it is sale and don't matter who sells but how much total.

You are always under pressure if manager does not like you she will find million reasons to fire you. HR backing managers because you are just a number here. Had a feeling that top salespeople feeding Store manager to keep their position. Too much things is going on, in this store.

I don't recommend anybody to work here who wants their peace of mind.
