RadioShack used to be a place you go to to pick up neat electronics and spare parts. It was a wonderful hobby store that always had the part or solution to all your electronic needs.

However, they shifted focus to up selling cell phones and became less a hobby store and more a Verizon store. Because of this, there are no more Radio Shacks.

I worked for RadioShack for 20 years and fond memories of the time I was there. It was a rewarding experience.

I learned a tremendous amount about retail sales, merchandising, and management. There was a lot of comradery among everyone that still exists even after 18 years since I left. Everybody misses RadioShack.

This store was well managed and profitable due to selling of high profit margin items, but the focus was placed on selling low margin cellphones. If they had changed their focus, Radioshack may have survived.

RadioShack, formerly RadioShack Corporation, is the trade name of an American retailer founded in 1921.

Since 2017, General Wireless Operations, Inc. has leased the name from Kensington Capital Holdings and operates primarily as an e-commerce website, a network of approximately 425 independently-owned authorized dealer stores, and as a supplier of parts for HobbyTown.

Great place to work!

Great managers, not a lot of opportunity growth. Short breaks and some co workers are rude and fight over commissions and costumers.

Do not recommend.

Work every holiday and weekends, commissioned and metrics based.

I worked here a long time ago. Back when color screens on cell phones first became available. Nothing bad to say about the job, really.

Management was alright. Hardest part of the job for me was selling cell phones and plans.

Most enjoyable part was helping the retirees who would come in early in the day looking for nothing in particular but seemed to just want to interact with another human being.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people were easy to get along with and there was no drama with the employees. The bosses were friendly and didn’t push employees to get the job done.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I don’t remember being stressed.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They wanted you to be on time and do your job. Meet goals.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come into work and stay busy all day . Report any quality issues and if possible correct them.

Upper management constantly demanded pushing for more phone sales and add ons. This resulted in annoyed customers who weren't interested. Who wants to get helped by someone clearly following a script?

Radioshack was a good place to work, learn, and help people. It did focus more on cell phones and less on what Radioshack was nostalgic for during my time there.

The older people would always let you know how "cool it used to be." Cellular sales definitely brought you in commission if you weren't scared to sell or if your demographic allowed. I was not in the best demographic where alot of folks couldn't get approved for service, so you would have to sell them prepaid.

Overall I enjoy.

Radioshacks was a very good company for me to work at.

There were several company site without the world.Radioshack stores were open long hours and they had evenings morning and night shifts and the hours were felixiable.

Also the base salary were min salary, however, with commission makes it worth working for this company , there are many other offers that comes with working for Radioshack ,medical leaves , dental care, holiday paid sick days etc Alot of people love Radioshack products ,they are reasonable not expensive.

Also they are quality products . Millions of American each years purchase merchadise from Radioshack.

Senior Retail Sales Manager (Former Employee)

This would've been an amazing job if they paid a little more, cared about their employees a little more, did t have a mindset that only men could thrive in management, managed their money better, focused on what they were instead of competing with bix bog electronics stores, stayed humble to those hobbyist that appealed to their products.

But they went bankrupt. For a reason.
